coffee stirrer necklace!

I was inspired by Kirsten from Studs and Pearls to make this necklace.
I started out by painting the straws gold since I had just bought gold paint. I was going to use small pearls as the in between beads. While they dried I began to make a test necklace out of some of the other stirrers. Fortunately they came black and I didn't have to worry about ugly stripey straws or anything. I ended up liking it a lot and put it on before I began my "real" necklace. But unfortunately, one can't paint straws. They really must be spray painted. I took out my scissors to cut the first one, and the paint immediately began to chip. Oh well... I tried to think of ways to reuse golden chippy painted straws but came up with nothing so I had to toss them.
Anyways, here is the link to the original post.

Awesome job, Leah!<3 And yeah, haha, spray paint seems to be the only way to get paint to stick to plastic straws...but your necklace turned out great regardless. I like how you made a smaller pendant, I might have to make another one and do the same. I'm going to post your necklace on the S&P facebook fan page under "S&P Reader Projects" if that's cool with you! xo
